OCEAN TO OUTBACK. A fully supported road cycling sojourn, taking in WA’s pristine wheat belt and eastern desert wilderness whilst fundraising youth mentoring programs for the Laverton community, September 6th-16th 2020

This event showcases what is best about supported road cycling (being able to ride long in a fully supported environment, not having to worry about any form of preparation on the day) and the WA outback (taking in the stark beauty of the WA outback by literally living and breathing the ‘bush’)

September 2020 Perth – Mount Magnet – Laverton

7 Days riding, averaging 151km’s day

10 riders only

5 support staff

Accommodation, food and hospitality provided for each rider, Sept. 6-16th

3 month training option is provided and tailored to your fitness level


The accommodation blends a mixture of outback hospitality at local sites and real bush camping

All camping sites are erected and provided, with comfortable bedding and amenities included

You will not be roughing it

All breakfast, lunch and evening meals are provided, along with food consumable for cycling along the way


Day One: 176km’s Toodjay-Dalwallinu

Day Two: 175km’s Dalwallinu-Paynes Find

Day Three: 143kms Paynes Find-Mount Magnet

Day Four: 153kms Paynes Find-Sandstone

Day Five: 152kms Sandstone-Leinster

Day Six: 136kms Leinster-Leonora 

Day Seven: 125kms Leonora- Laverton

Day Eight and Nine are spent with children completing the mentoring program and excursions with local elders


$2490 includes ride entry, accommodation, food, and training

The 2020 event is at 60% capacity, a deposit of $500 can reserve your place for the Perth Laverton Classic

Fundraising- through a series of collective event sharing we hope to raise a combined total of $25,000 toward the Laverton mentoring program and Laverton cycling program, which you can read about here.

Each rider will assist in raising this total.

As a supporter you too, can play a part in creating opportunities for this community. You can participate in events directly associated with the project or make donations through the Australian Sports Foundation for private tax deductibility.
