WHY ARE YOU DOING THE RIDE?

I have been involved in cycling for many years having competed in my first race way back in 1978 as a Schoolboy in Scotland. My passion for cycling, for many years was focused on competition however now that have many grey hairs; my focus is cycling for fun; and to keep fit. Cycling is a great way to meet people; travel and have adventure. I became aware of the foundation through my children; who competed for the Veris team; I thought; what a way to support a local community while enjoying my passion; ride for a cause.

This is now my 4th year supporting the event; from sponsorship through to personal involvement building bikes for the kids in Laverton. This year I intend to complete the full ride; and continue to build the relationship and support for the Laverton community.

WHY DO YOU WANT TO FUNDRAISE FOR THE PERTH LAVERTON CYCLING PROJECT?

It is very easy to become complacent with the life we lead; life can be stressful for many reasons and you can forget the true value of living; getting out there; riding your bike in the middle of the outback and then sharing stories with your friends over a camp fire.

The cultural aspect of the event is incredible; the story telling; from our fellow riders to the Elders of the various communities we pass through. It is very humbling experience; with many emotions. Every kids loves to ride a bike; and to be able to experience this with the kids in Laverton; support them and the community; why would you not!
