WHY ARE YOU DOING THE RIDE?

I was really blown away by the stories shared by the riders and the beautiful images from the 2020 ride –  from the amazing landscapes; hearing about the riders learning from the local communities; to the joyful images of the kids riding their bikes.  As a kid I loved riding my bike and the sense of freedom and independence that it provided me.  It seemed a pretty basic childhood pleasure that I assumed most children had access to, but I’ve learnt this is not the case.  As a (now very) mature adult, I’m again enjoying the feeling of being on two wheels and belonging to a strong cycling community that supports and contributes to others in a myriad of ways.

Riding from Perth to Laverton to raise funds to support the Laverton community will be a great physical challenge to undertake.  I’m hopeful that the outcome will be to enable the local kids to experience the simple enjoyment of riding a bike, and all of the positive benefits that it brings.

WHY DO YOU WANT TO FUNDRAISE FOR THE PERTH LAVERTON CYCLING PROJECT?

I’m looking forward to learning first-hand about our indigenous communities and their country, and being able to contribute meaningfully to a program that is having a positive impact. The physical challenge will be huge, and I’m excited about sharing this with a like-minded group of cyclists.

ANY CYCLING QUIRKS?

The colour orange!  I have a bright orange Cervelo, which means that most of my cycling kit needs to match my bike in some way.
