WHY ARE YOU DOING THE RIDE?

Truth be told, I cannot come up with a valid reason not to take part.
But, there is no single, specific reason driving my lunacy in agreeing to this endeavour! I am blessed to have a fabulous family and team of employees (my 2nd family) and live a comfortable but simple life. I would love to know more (a lot more) about the indigenous culture, the land and the connection between. I feel ignorant, and somewhat embarrassed, by my lack of knowledge of the people and places in our own back yard. It’s time I learned a little, and gave back something too. That would be a large part of my reasons for this commitment.

Of course, there is also the challenge of becoming the healthiest I can be. I embarked upon a personal transformation a few years ago now, mainly using cycling and a no carb diet. I feel so much more alive and focused! Not to mention being nearly 30kgs lighter…
Committing to a challenge such as this will further enhance my physical fitness and at the same time, provide a mental challenge that is unlike anything else I have ever attempted.

WHY DO YOU WANT TO FUNDRAISE FOR THE PERTH LAVERTON CYCLING PROJECT?

There are always others with more than you. It’s easy to be distracted by this or to become ungrateful for the reality that each of us enjoys. Sadly, this means we tend to become dismissive or unreceptive to the needs of those with less. And most people have less than I do. Maybe, not less money, but less opportunity, less freedoms, less respect, less understanding. And often, less money. I want to shout from the rooftops sometimes to wake people from their apathy. But would anyone hear?

Instead, if I can demonstrate that change for good can be effected with small efforts and that living in OBLIGATION to others is both rewarding and relatively simple to achieve, then maybe shouting won’t be needed… All kids in our country should feel valued and have opportunities to be the best versions they can be.
